Almon J. Lawrence, Sr

MOOERS-Almon J. Lawrence, Sr., 72 of Mooers passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born October 1, 1943 in Saranac Lake, the son of Earl and Myrtle (Skeels) Lawrence. He was a hardworking man with a great sense of humor. He was known for his bright blue eyes and he was loved by those that knew him. Almon enjoyed playing horseshoes and fishing. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

He is predeceased by his parents, one sister, Alice Gallow; one brother, Duane Lawrence; two sons, Adrian Lawrence and Roland Lawrence; one grandson, Ricky "Skeeter" LaFountain, Jr., and one great grandson, Brian Cramer.

Survivors include, his wife of 34 years, Virginia Lawrence of Mooers; three sons, Al Lawrence, Jr. and his companion Lynn of Harkness; Henry and Beth Lawrence of Winter Haven, FL, Andrew Lawrence of Arizona; three daughters, Sarah Batcher of Lakeland, FL, Tracy Mormile of Crystal River, FL and Candi LaFountain and her husband Rick of Mooers; one brother, Earl Lawrence, Jr. of Plattsburgh; one sister, Grace Bushey of Ellenburg; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Ausable. A funeral will follow at 11:00. Interment will be in Hazelton Cemetery in Wilmington. Following the committal service at the cemetery there will be a reception in the parish hall.
