Eldora DeCoste Obituary

MOOERS-Eldora Helen DeCoste, 93 of Mooers was welcomed into Heaven by her late husband Ernest, son Maurice and daughter Thelma. She passed peacefully with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Forest Road in Ellenburg Depot, the daughter of the late Fred and Marceline (Monette) Brassard. Eldora was married to Ernest DeCoste on May 17, 1938 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Together they raised four children.

Eldora worked as a seamstress at Mooers Slipper Factory, True Stitch in Malone and Trebor's in Keeseville. After retirement she continued to be an avid seamstress for her family, friends and community. Her hobbies included quilting, braiding rugs, gardening and canning. She also enjoyed music, dancing and loved to play BINGO. Being devoted to her faith, she was an active member of the Ladies of St. Ann in Mooers Forks for 61 years. She was also a member of the Good Fellowship Club.

Eldora is survived by sons Ronald (Joyce) DeCoste of Roy, Utah, Daniel (Laurie) DeCoste of Mooers Forks; daughter in law, Hilda DeCoste of Ellenburg Depot and son in law James Wakefield of Syracuse; grandchildren, Julie (Stephen) Garrow, Diana (Scott) Lashway, Kristy (Peter) Rocha, Alisa (Trent) Mansfield, Jimmy and Justin Wakefield, Tyler (Laurin) DeCoste and Sadie DeCoste; 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild with one on the way. She is also survived by two sisters, Beatrice LaValley and Rita (Clarence) LaValley.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ernest, son Maurice, daughter, Thelma Wakefield, siblings, Arthur and Alvin Brassard, Sister Saint Rita Brassard and several sisters and brothers in law.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday January 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eldora's memory to Hospice of the North Country or Mooers Fire Department.
