Gabriel Bedard Obituary

Gabriel R. Bedard, 81 of Rouses Point passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at UVM-CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side. 

He was born July 6, 1937 in Champlain, the son of Raymond and Roseanna (Cayea) Bedard.  He served in the U. S. Navy from 1955-1960. On December 8, 1962 he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Marnes and they were married 56 years.  He worked at Sheridan Iron Works in Champlain for 26 years and Kollsman in Merrimak, NH for 15 years.  Gabriel was a member of the American Legion Post 912 and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rouses Point.  He was a devout Catholic and an avid sports fan.  His favorite teams were the New York Yankees, Rangers and Giants.  Gabe also enjoyed playing softball until the age of 62, bowling, gambling, watching the news and his annual trip to Aruba. 

He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Theresa Thornton and her husband Walter; three brothers, Gerald Bedard, Clement Bedard, Marcel Bedard and his wife Denise.

Left to cherish memories of Gabe are his wife, Mary Lou Bedard of Rouses Point; one son, Christopher Bedard and his wife Anna of Massapequa, Long Island; one daughter Debra of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Ashley, Sage and Rosalia; siblings, James Bedard and his wife Ginny, Peter Bedard, Real Bedard and his wife Sandra; Anita Giroux and Claire Clark; two sisters in law, Lola Bedard and Aline Bedard and many nieces and nephews.  He also leaves some special friends, Mary and Jack Glasheen and Lorna Hazen.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in the spring.  Donations in Gabriel’s memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
