Martha B. Hicks

Martha B. Hicks, 80 of Champlain passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born July 14, 1939 in Mooers Forks, the daughter of Marshall and Achsah (Vancour) Rabideau.  She operated a daycare, she loved her kids.  Martha touched the lives of many children through the years.  She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. 

She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert H. Hicks, Sr., who passed away in 2008; and one brother, Dennis Rabideau.

Left to cherish memories of Martha are one son, Robert Hicks, Jr. and his companion Tonya Forrette of Champlain; one daughter, Darlene Hilliker and her husband Calvin of Champlain; four sisters, Beverly Barcomb; Lenore Guerin and her husband Bill, Betty Hinton and her husband Brian and Theresa Fields and her husband James.  She is further survived by five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a sister in law, Debbie Rabideau. 

Martha’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her companion, Art LaRoche for being a wonderful man to her and helping her so much.  They also wish to thank Hospice of the North Country for all of the wonderful care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point.  Donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Champlain Fire Department.
