Richard H. Carpentier

Richard H. “Dick” Carpentier of North Farm Road in Chazy passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT, following a short illness. 

He was born September 22, 1941 in Plattsburgh, the son of Marcel and Anita (Lambert) Carpentier.  Dick graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1961.  He married Barbara Laramie on July 28, 1962 at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.  Dick had a passion for fire service.  He was an active member of the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department until his death.  On October 30th, he would have been a 60 year member.  He was past Fire Chief, past Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners for the Chazy Fire District and a two time Fireman of the Year.  Dick helped run Dick’s Lunch in Chazy while in high school, then worked for Sheridan/Harris for 26 years, followed by 28 years at Giroux Poultry.  Dick loved history, reading and genealogy. 

He is survived by his son, Todd, of Chazy.  Dick was predeceased by his parents; wife Barbara; and son, Terry.

Calling hours will be Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, at which time, Dick will receive his final ride on the 1934 Buffalo.  Memorial donations may be made to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department.
