Roger Baker Obituary

LAKELAND, FL-Roger Earl "Butch" Baker, 84 of Winter Haven, FL and formerly of Altona, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Lakeland Regional Health Center in Lakeland, FL.

He was born November 25, 1931 in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of Edith Morrow Baker. He married Marie Sutcliffe May 3, 1952 at St. Peters Church in Plattsburgh. He worked most of his life and retired from Plumbers Local #773. He volunteered at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. He was a member of Altona Rockside Seniors Club in Altona, NY. Butch enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was passionate about motorcycles. He enjoyed making woodcrafts and going to Morrow's Store for many years for coffee. He always had a smile on his face to light up the room. He enjoyed shaking hands and passing out hugs. Roger enjoyed Florida with his daughter very much. He loved going for a ride on his three wheeled bike around the park, swimming in the pool and going for long rides, sightseeing in Florida.

Roger was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Marie Sutcliffe; his mother Edith Baker Morrow: one brother, Eugene Baker, "Smudge"; one sister, Marion Stone; two sons in law, Donald P. Seguin and Wayne F. LaRock; one grandchild, Terry Baker and two brothers in law, Dean Clark and Robert Stone.

Survivors include, two sons, Neal Baker of Seattle, Washington, Brian Baker and his wife Judy of Champlain, NY; two daughters, Sandra Seguin and her companion, Kevin Gowette of Rouses Point, NY and Karen LaRock of Winter Haven, FL; one sister, Anna Seymour of Florida; one sister in law, Verna Clark and her four girls, Maria, Robin, Barbie and Judy of Washington State; grandchildren, Jason Seguin and his companion, Amy Peroza, Kim Buskey, Andrew and Kelly Baker, Matt, Amanda and Brad Baker, Dana and Chris Boeshore, Jenna and Pete Jarvis, Monica Baker Theissen and Molly Felch Seguin. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Kellie, Christina and Jeff Buskey, Madalyn and Ashlyn Seguin, Cullen Boeshore and Gavin Jarvis. Other people that he considered very close to his heart were Penny Pombrio, Tammy and Todd Brothers, Terry Lee and Jody Speer, Tyler Lacey, Shelby, Steven, Christopher and especially his two honeybunches, Nicolle and Katee Brothers; many nieces and nephews; Karen's African Grey Parrot, Nick, who will be doing his spot on impressions of Butch for many years to come.

Calling hours will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Turnpike Wesleyan Church in Plattsburgh.
