Steven K. Burky, 51 of Champlain passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 29, 1967 in Lancaster, PA, the son of Elton and Nancy Burky. He attended Williams College in Williamstown, MA where he was a member of the choir club and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1989. He was the organist at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Steve loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed reading and watching football. Steve volunteered some of his time at St. Mary’s Bazaar and St. Mary’s School. A gift that he gave to his community and his church was his music. Steve was a very talented musician. His music was enjoyed at many weddings, funerals and weekend Masses.
He is predeceased by his father.
Left to cherish memories of Steve are, his mother; his wife, Linda Burky of Champlain; one step daughter, Melisa Young and her husband Stephen of Mooers; two stepsons, Justin Vassar of Chazy and Christopher Duprey of Champlain; one brother, Jonathan Burky of Seattle, WA; one sister, Heather Sugioka of Boston, MA; two step grandchildren, Henry and Brantley and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother in law, Beverly Duprey of Chazy.
Friends may call at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain Friday, November 30th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m.
