Alton C. LaPorte

Alton C. LaPorte, 83 of Mooers passed away September 19, 2020 at the UVM Health Network at CVPH.

He was born August 28, 1937 in Yonkers, NY, the son of Alton H. and Exina Nina (Hebert) LaPorte.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963.  He was a lifelong employee of the Agway Corporation, he was the manager of the Peru and Mooers Agway stores.  Alton was a devoted husband, loving father and fun loving grandfather and great grandfather.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking. 

He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Edith Hart and her husband, Kenneth Hart; and one great grandchild, Emily LaPorte.

Left to cherish memories of Alton are, his wife of 60 years, Norma LaPorte of Mooers; one son, Kevin LaPorte and his wife, Francine; one daughter, Kenna LaPorte and her husband, Martin Mailloux; five grandchildren, Devin LaPorte and his spouse, Ashley LaPorte, Dylan LaPorte, Hannah Reardon and her spouse, Donnie Reardon, Emily Wilson and her spouse Luke Wilson and Elizabeth Trudeau.  He is further survived by five great grandchildren, Madison LaPorte, Adalynn LaPorte, Logan Brault, Alexa LaPorte, and Lily Wilson. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, September 24th from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.  A funeral service will follow at 6:30 at the Ross Funeral Home.  Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery in Mooers.
