Armand P. Bechard

Armand P. Bechard, 88, passed peacefully on April 30, 2026, at CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY, with his loving nephew by his side.

He was born March 18, 1938, to Armand Bechard, Sr. and Bertha (Filion) Bechard in Plattsburgh, NY.

Armand was a lifelong resident of Champlain, NY, Bechard Senior Housing in Rouses Point, NY, and most recently, Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, NY.

Armand grew up on his family farm and lived and worked by his father’s side. Later, following the passing of his father, he helped his brother Marcel, with many tasks working on small engines and auto repairs.

Armand’s time at Bechard Senior Housing were very happy years for him. He loved his newfound friends and enjoyed all the social activities with his new family.

Armand was a straight-forward and easy man with plain needs. He loved a good card game, a great meal and spending time with family. He especially loved when Willow, his nephew’s dog, would visit him at Meadowbrook.

Armand was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Coopersville, NY. When he was unable to attend mass any longer, Sr. Rani Selvaraj would be sure to bring him communion and spent time with him weekly.

Armand is survived by his brother-in-law, Stanley Coupal. Armand is predeceased by his parents, Armand and Bertha Bechard, siblings, Maurice Bechard and wife Marie Carol, Octave Bechard and wife Gladys, Theresa Ducharme and husband Ernest, Marcel Bechard and wife Wanda, Bernard Bechard, Gertrude Trombley and husband Hubert, Angelo Bechard and wife Marie Jean, Margaret Bechard, Hortense Boutin and husband Frank, and Beatrice Coupal.

Armand’s family would like to thank the staff at Meadowbrook, third floor, Aspen View, and the staff on the seventh floor at CVPH who made his journey comfortable.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 8, 2026, at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain, NY. The family will greet guests from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church and a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at a later date.
