Barbara Gero Obituary

Barbara A. Gero, 90, formerly of Ellenburg passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Meadowbrook Healthcare. 

She was born October 30, 1929 in Ellenburg.  She was the daughter of William and Katherine (Lord) Ryan.   She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Altar Rosary Society and the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Barbara was an Irish farm girl with a zest for life.  She loved music and she loved to dance.  She was a woman of strength, love and faith.  She cherished her family.  Barbara touched the lives of everyone she encountered with her mischievous smile and great wit.  She had a way of making people feel welcome.  There are a million stories and fond memories that her family and friends are left to cherish.

She is predeceased by her parents; her former husband John McCann and husband, Howard Gero; two brothers, Edwin Ryan and Gary Ryan; three sisters, Jo Anne Jungers, Margaret Meagher and Shirley Cashman.  She was also predeceased by one grandchild, Hillary McCann.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, JoAnn and Patrick McNeil, Debra and Derren Juneau, her sons and their spouses, Steve and Tracy McCann and Rick and Monica Gero, her granchildren: Katie and James Francisco, Robert McCann, Christie McCann Labare, Samantha Senecal, Tyler McCann, Cameron Gero, Adam Juneau, Rachel Venne and Adam Venne, and her great grandchildren: Karsin McCann, Jayden Labare, Isla Francisco, and Ryder Labare.

Surviving siblings include: Wayne and Wilberta Ryan, Ronald and Evelyn Ryan, Dale and Judy Ryan, Edward and Dianne Ryan, Roger and Cindy Ryan, Terry and Linda Ryan, Billy Ryan, Sandra and Robert Vievia, and Linda Ryan.

She is also survived by her dear in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and many special friends.

Due to the current health situation, services will be private at the Ross Funeral Home.  A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadowbrook Healthcare Activity Fund, Ellenburg Depot Fire Department or a mass card.
