With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann (LaValley) Guay, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who left this world on December 15, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on July 13, 1942, in Mooers Forks, NY, Barbara spent her early years surrounded by the beauty of upstate New York before eventually settling in Rouses Point, where she became a cherished member of the community.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker, pouring her love and energy into creating a warm and loving home for her family. She also contributed her talents to the Champlain Telephone Company and Sheridan Iron Works, demonstrating her strong work ethic and commitment to those around her. Friends affectionately referred to her as the "beautiful lady," a testament to her kind spirit and captivating presence.
Above all, Barbara cherished her role as a grandmother, nurturing and caring for her grandchildren—Alyssa (Greg) Haase, Miranda (Tommy) Menard, Kyler (Katherine) Guay, Karissa Guay, Zoey McNeil, Abagail Guay, and Kaitlynn Guay—with love and devotion. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Nathan Guay, forming a lasting bond with each and every one of them.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughter Lisa Menard and her husband, Dale, her son Randy Guay and his wife, Danielle, her son, Lance Guay, and her beloved sister, Genevieve Ducharme, as well as several nieces and nephews. The love that she cultivated in her family and friendships will continue to resonate throughout the lives she touched.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Barcomb) LaValley, her loving sister, Flo Lamberton, her sister, Joanne LaValley, her two brothers, Oliver and Gerald LaValley, two nephews, Barry and Terry Lamberton, and two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Howard.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 23, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks where friends and family are encouraged to share their memories and stories of this remarkable woman. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11. In honor of her caring spirit, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Barbara Ann (LaValley) Guay will be deeply missed but forever remembered, cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on through her family and all who were lucky enough to call her a friend.
