Brian Patrick Power (April 13, 1948 - April 16, 2021)
Brian Power, retired teacher and coach, died on April 16, 2021 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife, Myrna, his daughters, Erin, Kathleen and Tara, his son Matthew Merchant and grandchildren, Daunte, Deion and Dominick Howe, Alexandria Wynter Lloyd, Savannah and Sophia Bell, Gabriel Oren, Rileigh Carey, Jacob Merchant, his sister Jamie Meier and brother, Matthew Powers, his niece Jacqueline Meier, nephew Michael Seneschal and niece Kim Morin.
He is predeceased by his mother, Ruth, and father Michael Powers, his sister, Jacqueline Seneschal, and his daughter, Melissa Merchant Lloyd.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 13, 1948, Brian graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1970 with a degree in English Education and worked as a teacher and coach at Northeastern Clinton Central School (NCCS). He was an avid athlete and runner.
A devoted father and beloved husband, Brian touched the lives of hundreds of local students and athletes over his more than 30-year career. He is remembered for many things, including his passion for music and the written word, his easy smile and signature sense of humor. He loved deeply and was much loved by many in return. His loss is felt by many in and beyond the North Country.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, April 24 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Lake Street in Rouses Point, NY with a reception to immediately follow at the American Legion on Pratt street.
