Daniel L. Brunell, 64, of Ellenburg Depot, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

 

Daniel was born September 4, 1960 in Plattsburgh, the son of Terry and Barbara (Jackson) Brunell.

 

Daniel was very active in his life. He played for, as well as coached, the Altona Hornets baseball team with his father, winning several championships. He loved golfing and working around the house. Daniel was an avid hunter, he especially enjoyed his downstate hunting trips with his family for over 50 years. Daniel enjoyed spending time with his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Zoey. He will be missed by his two beagles, Piper and Buster.

 

Daniel was predeceased by his father, Terry; grandmothers, Marie Mitchell and Jean Supernault; a sister, Brenda Brunell; a niece, Tara Lynn Bushey; nephews, Chris Brunell and Chad Brunell; two sisters-in-law, Keitha and Kim Brunell; in-laws, Viola and Ronald Hazen; and a nephew, John Guerin.

 

Daniel is survived by his wife, Shawn, of 34 years. They married on April 6, 1991 at Holy Angels Church in Altona. He is survived by his daughter, Brooke Forcier and her husband Nicholas of Cape Cod; his mother, Barbara Brunell of Altona; brothers, Michael Brunell and Jody of Plattsburgh, James Brunell of Altona, John Brunell of Altona, Tom Brunell of Rouses Point and Eddie and Stacey Brunell of Altona; sisters, Jeanne and Michael Bushey of Altona and Karen Tourville of Altona; a sister-in-law, Lori Provost and her husband George; and a granddaughter, Zoey; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

 

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona. An entombment will follow at the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum.
