It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deborah A. LaVenture, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on July 2, 1949, in Plattsburgh, NY, Deborah touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to others.
Deborah's professional journey began at St. Mary's Academy, where she lovingly served as the secretary for many years, making a lasting impact on the lives of students and families. Afterward, she excelled as an Office Manager at Kavanaugh Realty, where her organizational skills and commitment to excellence were deeply appreciated. Deborah belonged to the American Legion in Rouses Point. She also loved to spend time cooking for her family and friends.
Deborah was preceded in death by: Andrus "Sonny" LaVenture Jr., husband; John and Patricia LaFave, parents; and Jackie Bechard, sister; and John Turner, life partner.
Deborah was a proud mother to her daughter, Nicole Shively, and mother-in-law to Fred Shively. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Taylor, Gage, Paige, Kayla, and Fred Shively III; and great-grandmother to Clayton Brock, shaping their lives with love and guidance. She is also survived by her brother, Corby LaFave, along with her cherished niece, Brianna LaFave, and nephews, Brett LaFave, Chuck and Jim Bechard, and daughters of John Turner, Angelique and Hayley and many cousins. Each of these relationships was a testament to her nurturing spirit, and her family will carry her memory with them always.
A celebration of Deborah's life will be held on September 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the American Legion, 29 Pratt Street in Rouses Point, NY. This heartfelt service will honor her legacy, celebrating the joy she brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Family and friends are invited to come together to reminisce, reflect, and share stories that encapsulate her vibrant personality and the compassionate life she lived.
