Edgar Charles Polhemus (80) passed away May 21, 2020 at UVM Health Network at C.V.P.H Plattsburgh, NY.
Born October 17, 1939, son of Edgar Vincent and Matilda (Schultz) Polhemus in New City, N.Y. Edgar served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. In September of 1961 he married his love, Dolores Marie Kakos. In 1964 they moved to Willsboro NY where they raised their family.
Edgar lifelong work was specializing in auto & heavy equipment mechanics. Spending many dedicated years at Plattsburgh Air Force base, which later became PARC.
Known to many as Googie, Polecat, and especially Poppy Ed, he was loved and admired for his strong work ethic and limitless talents and creativity. Everyone who knew him were familiar with his gift for gab and jokes and storytelling. Always one to be busy, he prided himself in his meticulous care of his lawn, home, and never-ending projects. Ed had a loving heart for all 4 legged friends, most recently his companion for many years, Misty.
Edgar is survived by his daughter, Dawn Frye, partner Guy Finkbohner, of Wells, Vt. His Son Kevin and wife Lori of Jamaica, VT and his 2 beloved Grandsons, Garret and Vincent also of Jamaica, VT.
Predeceased family include his mother and father Edgar and Matilda Polhemus, Sister Ida Garrison, sister Nancy Hopper, and his wife Dolores Polhemus.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of family.
