ELLENBURG CENTER-Elnora "Nora" Smith, 91 of Route 11 Ellenburg Center passed away April 12, 2017, peacefully at home under the care of Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 4, 1925 in Ellenburg, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Reynolds) Trombley. Nora grew up and went to school in Burke, NY then moved to Ellenburg Center after she married Clarence Smith on October 19, 1942. She worked at Tru-Stitch in Malone and Aranac Ribbon Mill in Plattsburgh. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and homemaker. She loved baking, sewing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. You could always stop by Nora's kitchen for a cup of coffee, cake and/or cookies anytime. People were always welcome.

Survivors include, one son, Clarence Smith Jr. of White River Junction, VT; five daughters, Marie DeCoste of Mooers Forks, Sharron (Harold) Clukey of White River Junction, Sheila DeCoste of Ellenburg, Sharlene (Jesse) Stanley of Ellenburg, Susan (Brian) Lashway of White River Junction; one brother, Floyd (Dorothy) Trombley of Satsuma, FL; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Nora was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clarence Smith Sr.; two grandchildren, Winston DeCoste, Jr., Heith Lashway; one great grandchild, Joseph Wood Jr. and sons in Law, Winston DeCost Sr. and Darwin DeCoste. Her predeceased siblings were Mildred Prue, Leonard, Ransom, Evangeline Prue, Richard, Shirley Tavernier, Horace, Ovid, Herbert and Elizabeth Boyea.

Calling hours will be Monday April 17, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 at the Ross Funeral Home in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at St, Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will be in St. Edmund's Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg or the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
