Ethel Bushey Obituary

Ethel Ida Bushey, 91 formerly of Altona and Lyon Mountain passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Meadowbrook Healthcare.

She was born February 21, 1929 in Irona, the daughter of Albert and Dianna (Cusson) LaFave. She graduated from Altona Central School. She was co-owner of North Star Inn for several years. Ethel also worked at Howard Johnson, Holiday Inn and Zachary’s until she retired. She loved to watch the Yankees.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents; one son, Steven Bushey. One granddaughter, Tara Lynn Bushey; her former husband, Victor Bushey; her longtime companion, Tom Sorrell; one sister, Theresa (Bobby) Spear; two brothers, Robert (Patricia) LaFave and Ronald LaFave as well as two brothers in law, Raymond Facteau and Albert Chandler.

Left to cherish memories of Ethel are five sons, Michael (Jeanne) Bushey, James (Debra) Bushey, Mark (Ann) Bushey, Neal (Betty) Bushey and Robin (Penny) Bushey; one sister, Lucille Chandler; 13 grandchildren, Mindy (John) Guerin, Ginger (David) Jarjoura, Corey (Trista) Bushey, Craig (Melissa) Bushey, Kyle Bushey, Ryan, Courtney, (Justin) Bushey, Doug (Marcy) Alexander, Donnie (JenniferAlexander, Eric, Josh (Rachel) Warren, Analise and Destiny Bushey; 15 great grandchildren; one sister in law, Shirley LaFave and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Meadowbrook Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided. Donations may be made to JCEO Food Shelf or Meadowbrook Nursing Facility Giving Days.

Calling hours will be Monday, November 2, 2020 from 11:30-1:30 at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. Masks are required. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Holy Angel’s Cemetery in Altona.
