Etna M. Jerdo

Etna Soper Jerdo, 90, of Plattsburgh, NY and formerly of Reber, NY passed away December 11, 2022.

She was born on April 13, 1932, the daughter of Marion and Adelbert  Soper.  Etna married Raymond Jerdo on June 21st, 1950. Ray predeceased her on Dec. 6th, 2007.

Etna worked for many years at area grocery stores including White’s and Phil’s Village Market in Willsboro and Cassavaugh’s in Lewis.  She absolutely enjoyed mowing lawns including her own and always had a deep respect for caring and mowing of the Reber cemetery for many years where her beloved mother, father and relatives are buried.  

Etna loved telling stories of the past and could recount with detail, days gone by.  She enjoyed bingo with Ray and her mother, and the slots; and was proficient  in math and did her own checkbook to the penny! Anyone who knew her, knows she was very “strong-willed” and had a mind of her own. 

Survivors include her son, Douglas and wife Debbie; daughter Debi and husband Keith; and daughter Darlene and husband, Karl; nine grandchildren, Brent Jerdo, Melanie  Wheaton, Heather Andersson, Samantha, Danielle, Krystle, Karla and Kaitlyn Booth and Cassandra Crowningshield; 19 great-grandchildren;  and  a sister, Marion Rhude; and nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, Sally.

Etna was predeceased by her twin sister, Gretna; and her brothers, Rodney and Phil; her grandchildren, Lindsay and Joshua Jerdo, Jeremy Booth and  great-grandchild, Michael Ryelle.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, Dec. 15th at 10 am at the Reber Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to the Reber Fire Dept.

Arrangements are in the care of the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.
