Gloria J. Hart Obituary
Gloria J Hart, 81, of Champlain, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 with her loving family by her side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Champlain, NY on September 3, 1943, the daughter of Adolphus and Lucille (Jarvis) LaCount. Gloria enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, and playing cards with her family.
Gloria graduated from Northeastern Clinton Central School. In her early working career, she worked at the Slipper Factory. It was here where she met the love of her life, Harvey Hart. They were married on September 4, 1965. Gloria later went to work for and retired from Ayerst Laboratories (aka Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals/Pfizer)in 2003 with 40 years of service. What an amazing feat!
Gloria was a loving wife for almost 50 years. She lost her beloved Harvey on July 23, 2015. Despite the pain of losing him, Gloria was determined to continue moving forward with the help of her family. Her son, Trevor, moved in with and took care of her for four years. After which, her son, Stephen and his wife, Debra, and their children moved in and cared for her allowing her to remain in her own home despite her illness. Although the years passed, Harvey never left her thoughts. She had several pictures of him from their 40th wedding celebration sitting in front of her at her computer. Gloria often talked of how much she missed him and was looking forward to reuniting with him once again.
Gloria was an amazing mother. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family. She braved her fear of flying to go to Texas to visit her daughter and son-in-law multiple times. She was hoping to be able to make another trip but her health would not allow it. Despite only having a single income, Gloria always asked her kids if there was anything they needed. She would have gladly gone without before seeing any of them want for anything. Gloria lost her youngest son, Trevor, on January 25, 2025 at 49 years old. It was a devastating loss for her. During her last week of life, she talked about how much she loved and missed him. She said she always knew Trevor and Harvey were watching over her from heaven keeping her safe.
She was a phenomenal grandmother. When her first grandson was young, he was really into Nintendo games. Gloria bought a gaming system for her house so she could learn how to play the games he played. She got tips from him during his weekly visits then practiced numerous hours during the week so she would be good enough to play with him on the weekends. She never managed to win but watching her practice to try to was a wonderful sight. Gloria loved being a part of all of her grandkids lives. She looked forward to them coming into her room and asking for snacks. She didn't even seem to mind when her youngest grandson, Harvey, used his tablet to change her TV from her news channel to cartoons. She would just shake her head and smile. She always knew who had done it. No matter how sick or sad she was, seeing her grandkids always brought a huge smile to her face. She loved them all dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Harvey, her son, Trevor, one brother, Russell LaCount; three sisters, Linda LaCount, Carol Duquette, Theresa Ero, and a brother-in-law, David Ero. She was also predeceased by an infant grandson, Carter Allen Hart. Gloria is survived by a brother; John LaCount of Rouses Point, a daughter; Tina and her husband Kevin Nelson of Wichita Falls, TX, two sons; George Hart of Schuyler Falls, NY, and Stephen Hart and his wife Debra of Champlain, NY. Gloria had seven grandchildren; Kyle Hart of Portland, Oregon, Dominic Hart of Plattsburgh, NY, Savanah Hart and her companion Joseph Pilon, and Bryce Gay, Sapphire Owens, Harvey Hart, and Gloria Hart all of Champlain, NY, several honorary grandchildren; Alexis and Craig Roberts and their boys, Jonah and Kegan of West Chazy, three sisters-in-law: Gale Tourville of Ellenburg Center, NY, Carol and Dan Hollingdale of Robbinston, ME, Sherryl McCreless of Ellenburg, NY, and a brother-in-law; Delbert and Debbie Hart of Ellenburg, NY. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved very, very much.
