Hattie Bernice McKinney, 79 of Lyon Mountain passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at UVMHN-CVPH with her family by her side.
She was born May 1, 1940 in Blythe, Arkansas, the daughter of James and Clemantine (Sexton) Wilson. She worked on her family’s cotton farm in her early years. Later on she worked at Imperial Wallcoverings in Plattsburgh. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved sewing and crafts.
Bernice was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gerald McKinney who passed away in 2013; one infant son, Patrick; four brothers, James “Bouy”, John, Jimmy-Dell and Robert; one sister, Nadine Moffit and one brother in law, Donald McKinney.
Left to cherish memories of Bernice are her children; Steven McKinney and his wife, Laura, John McKinney and his wife, Dawn, Kathy Rabideau and her husband, Ricky and Sonya Dubrey; one sister, Ruth Vega and her husband, Manny; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters in law, Jack and Ruth McKinney and Joanne and Mark Bartowski.
Calling hours will be Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home, 2586 Route 11 in Mooers.
