Herbert C. Regels Sr., age 97, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1928, the son of the late Earl J. Regels and Florence Regels.

Herbert devoted his working years to careers in security and construction, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication. In his free time, he found great enjoyment in watching and bidding on his horses, a passion that brought him excitement and pride throughout his life. He also enjoyed trying his luck with scratch-off tickets, a simple pleasure that always brought a smile.

He is survived by his son, Herbert Regels Jr. of Mooers; his last surviving sibling, Ronald Regels of Ballston Spa; his grandson, Brian Regels, and his wife Christina, and their children Nevaeh, Allan, Brianna, Dallas, Bailey, and Brian Jr. of Schenectady; his granddaughter, Candi LaFountain, and her husband Rick LaFountain Sr., and her sons William and Colton LaFountain of Mooers; Lacy Regels of Amsterdam, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, or friends that were thought of like family, including his close friend, Thomas Carr.

Herbert was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Mabel H. Regels; his daughter, Linda S. Robinson; his grandson, Jason M. Regels; his granddaughter, Angel L. Bishop; his great-grandsons, Richard J. LaFountain Jr. and Blake S. Regels; his sisters, Dorothy Putnam and Marjorie Curren; his brothers, Bernard, Donald, Eddie, and Arnold Regels; and his nephew, Jason Regels.
Herbert will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and his appreciation for life's simple joys. His legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
