ELLENBURG DEPOT — Hildred Cecile King, born January 21, 1932 in Altona, NY, the daughter of Edward and Sadie (Eurbin) Lucia, passed away November 2, 2021, while at Meadowbrook Healthcare.
She is survived by her son, James E. King and his wife, Sheri. She was very proud of her grandchildren: Alexa (King) Maille and her husband, Jordan; Tamara (King) Hyman and her husband, Tim; Jessica King and her partner, Harry Decker; and Cassie King and her fiancé, William Decker; and Damie Bruley; her great grandchildren: Lucas Hyman, Sadie Hyman, Jaxon Maille, and Tiana Decker. She is also survived by siblings and in-laws: Doris (Lucia) Nephew; Shirley (Lucia) McDonald and her husband, Loyal; Barbara (Lucia) Miller; Clarence Lucia and his partner, Betty Duquette; Homer Burdo, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Hildred was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James A. King; parents, Edward and Sadie (Eurbin) Lucia; and siblings: Theresa (Lucia) Parent, Mildred (Lucia) Burdo, and Edward (Roger) Lucia.
Hildred really loved her family and spending time with them. She also loved to dance, play cards, and if she wasn’t playing cards or dancing with her husband or friends, she was knitting or crocheting her famous dish cloths for family and friends. She was always willing to help anyone, if she was able. She was a member of the Dannemora Catholic Daughters. She held different jobs over her lifetime, but her last one was working in the cafeteria at Northern Adirondack Central School where she was the friendly face that students saw when they went to the cafeteria.
Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon, Friday, November 12, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora, NY. Masks will be required at both the wake and funeral. Interment will be in the Spring.
