ELIZABETHTOWN-Irene Mae Hulse, 92 of Willsboro passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2016 under the care of Essex Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, formerly Horace Nye Home.
She was born October 8, 1923 in Willsboro, the daughter of William and Lottie (Cooley) Lacey. She was President of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 2809 in Lake Placid, Den Mother for 12 years in Lake Placid and Willsboro, Regent for two terms in the Willsboro Catholic Daughters of America, a member of the Firemen Auxiliary in Willsboro for two years, Secretary to the North Countrymen's Club for three terms, a member of the Beautification Committee of Willsboro for one year, President of the William Gilliand Club for 6 years, a member of the Heritage Society and a private home health aide for 11 years. Irene will be remembered as a kind hearted and loving person. She was very outgoing, friendly and exuberant person. Always had a smile on her face and a joke to tell you. She enjoyed reading, cleaning and being around people. Irene was very religious and devoted to her church. She was always available and ready to help, no matter who needed it, weather it was a church dinner, church sale or anything that needed to be done. She always had time to stop and chat or cheer you up. If you were down, it was Irene who would pull you up out of your depressed mood. She loved to help people and was always smiling and bubbly, no wonder she was loved by so many. She loved Bristol Mountain, she thought it was the most beautiful place in God's country where she grew up in her early years.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, William, one son, William, one daughter, Jean Burke, her siblings, Robert, William, James, John, Herbert, Roy and Victor Lacey and Helen Hathaway.
Survivors include, two grandsons, William Hulse II and Thomas Burke Jr.; two great granddaughters, Gillian Jean Hulse and Kaitlyn Marie Burke one daughter in law, Gigi Hulse.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday August 20, 2016 at Saint Philip of Jesus Church in Willsboro with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Willsboro.
