Jane Moore Obituary

Jane Rita (Snide) Moore 90, of Mooers Forks passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Meadowbrook Healthcare.

She was born May 27, 1929 in Mooers Forks, the daughter of Wilfred and Dorothy (Willette) Snide.  She married Amasa W. Moore on April 1, 1949.  They were married for 56 years.

Jane’s true love was her husband, Amasa.  With her accounting expertise, together they built up Moore’s Sanitation Service and worked for the Vick’s Corporation, providing them with the necessary ingredient of cedar oil.  Under her husband’s encouragement for a short time she also sold Coventry and Park Lane jewelry.  But what he (and everyone else!) enjoyed the most was her cooking abilities.  He would pick up and food/ingredients she requested so he could later enjoy the benefit of her home cooked food.  Whenever the winter storms caused the family to stay home, it was always with joy because that was when she made her homemade glazed donuts!  As her husband often said, whatever wild game he shot and brought home, she could cook and make a banquet out of it.

Because Jane had come from such a large family, there was not much she couldn’t do.  She made clothes for her children and others, she crocheted for everyone, she used paint by numbers to finish paintings for the living room wall.  Each year she had a huge garden and canned most of it, along with as many berries as she and her family could pick (and not eat).

Jane also loved her flower garden.  Each year she would spend hours arranging the bed.  Her greatest delight was to have people stop in and take time to view it, as she explained each plant.  At her garden’s peak, people would drive by slowly to look.

Jane credited her husband, Amasa, with helping her find her faith in God.  Through his encouragement, she studied the Bible with the Seventh Day Adventist, continued with daily devotionals, joined and became a Sunday School teacher and then Superintendent, while being active in other ways at Mooers Forks United Methodist Church.  Because of her faith, she LOVED the season of Christmas, as anyone and everyone could attest to whenever they entered their home.

Jane is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Amasa Moore;  two children, Sallie Anne Moore and George Frank Moore; her beloved identical twin, Jeannette Meseck, other siblings, Cecilia Brothers, Mildred Snide, Roland Snide and Leonard Snide.

Left to cherish memories of Jane are, her children, Rev. Marion M. Moore-Colgan and her spouse, Mark Colgan; Susan J. Moore and her partner, Steve Wright and Charles A. Moore; her siblings, Theresa Garrand, Sister Mary Gilbert, Eugena Williams, Doris Brothers, Bernadette Surprenant, Philias Snide and Gilbert Snide.  She is further survived by a grandchild, Daniel M. Colgan and spouse, Nickolaus S. Colgan and many nieces and nephews.
