Janice M. “Moe” Castine, 65 of Champlain passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born May 16, 1955 in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Richard E. and Marjorie (Gibson) Castine. She graduated from Northeastern Clinton Central School in 1973. She graduated from North Country Community College where she was a standout in basketball. She graduated with a bachelors of science degree from SUNY Brockport where she was a nationally competitive athlete on the lacrosse team. Moe worked at A. N. Deringer as an Import Specialist for 30 years. She loved fishing and spending time on the river. She played on women’s and co-ed softball teams for many years.
Moe was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Marjorie Castine.
Left to cherish memories of Moe are her family, Dot Mallory, Jen Mallory and Alex Christmas of Champlain; one brother, Rick “Mad Dawg” Castine and his wife, Holly of West Chazy; two nephews, Peter Castine and his wife, Brooke of Chazy, Michael Castine and his wife, Renee of West Chazy; great nieces and nephew, Landon Castine, Cali Castine, Addison Castine and Angelena Castine; two aunts, Verna Brothers and her husband George of Rouses Point and Jeanette Trombley and her husband Ronald of Rouses Point.
A celebration of Moe’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
