John J. Fosher, 72, of Rouses Point, NY and North Fort Myers FL, passed away unexpectedly on March 8th, 2026, leaving behind a quiet that feels far too large for the space he once filled.

Born on June 5th in Plattsburgh NY, John moved through life with a strong faith, steady kindness and deep compassion. To those who knew him, John was generous and loyal.

We shared 44 years together, years filled with inside jokes, long conversations, shared dreams, quiet routines, adventures big and small. John had a way of laughing and being grateful for every day, and it’s impossible to measure how many lives were changed simply because he showed up as himself.

John loved his daily chores, old cars, car racing of all kinds, family and the stories shared, sharing time with his buddies at the garage, toddies at the Legion, and all his friends and family in Southwest Florida. He believed in family, fairness, faith, generosity, hard work, love, not just in words, but in the way he lived each day.

Though his time here ended far too soon, John’s love remains—woven into stories we tell, habits we keep, and the way we will always hold space for him in our hearts.

John is survived by his wife Linda and canine best friend Molly, children Christina (Jamie) Benard, Heather (Sam) Jamison, Randi Lyn (Lance) Trombly and David (Heathir) Fosher, grandchildren Sam and Lydia Fosher, sister Cecelia Armstrong, brother Bob (Maria) Fosher, and his best friend Bob Ethier, along with countless friends who considered him family. Surviving on the Fosher and Pratt side of the family tree are many loving family members, in-laws, sisters in love, cousins, nieces, nephews, so many that will also miss him greatly. Preceded in death by his mother and father Abram & Cecile (Anctil) Fosher, brother Dick Fosher, brother in-law Dick Armstrong, Aunts, and Uncles and other family members who were very special to him, and we are certain were waiting to welcome him when he arrived in Heaven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 12 at 11am St. Patrick’s in Rouses Point, followed by interment in the family plot at St. Josephs in Coopersville.  A Life Celebration to follow at the Legion Post 912 in Rouses Point. We encourage you to dress for comfort as John would have enjoyed your visit as you normally would on any given day.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to St Patrick’s Church or the JCEO food shelf in Champlain in honor of John—because it was important to John to help those around us in our community.  Losing John was not something we were prepared for. Loving him is something we will never stop doing.
