Kristin Kay (Youngmann) Chappell Obituary
Kristin Chappell ended her earthly pilgrimage this past Saturday, March 8, 2025 having valiantly battled cancer for many months. The second great love of her life, Christopher “Kork” Smith was by her side to the very end. Kristin’s family cannot thank Kork enough for his wonderful care and support.
Kristin was born to the Rev. William J. Youngmann and Janet (Wylie) Youngmann, formerly of Plattsburgh, NY. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Chappell and is survived by her daughter, Megan Chappell and her grand-daughter, Bobby T of Rouses Point, NY. Mourning her loss alongside Megan, Bobby T and Kork, are her older brothers; Marc and Renee Youngmann of South Plattsburgh, NY, Donald and Jeannie Youngmann of Grand Island, FL and her younger brother, Jonathan and Loyce Youngmann of Hoosick Falls, NY.
Kristin graduated from Plattsburgh High School. A few years later she met and fell deeply in love with Robert. Robert’s career in the USAF took them to the country of Panama and a number of years in Tucson, AZ. Retiring from service, they returned to Plattsburgh and then Rouses Point. Kristin worked in food service at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home and also at Wyeth Pharmaceutical here in Rouses Point.
Kristin will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She was caring and compassionate and had a wonderful laugh and bright smile. She loved to tan by her pool in the back yard turning a beautiful deep brown by the end of every summer season.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at North Country Alliance Church, 7 Northern Ave, Plattsburgh NY, on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 12:00 p.m., with her younger brother, Jonathan, officiating. Prior to the service there will be a wake from 10:00 a.m. to noon, held at the Church. Interment will take place in the spring at Union Cemetery in Moriah.
Contributions in Kristin’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
