It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Larry L. Defayette, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world on September 13, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on December 14, 1953, in Plattsburgh, NY, Larry spent his life dedicated to service and to the people around him.

Larry was a hardworking and compassionate Corrections Officer with the New York State Department of Corrections, where he tirelessly committed himself to promoting safety and justice within his community. His dedication to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family. Larry's love for his wife, Joan, and his children, Matthew and Lyndsey, was evident in every interaction, and he cherished the time spent with them.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Helen Defayette.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Joan Defayette; beloved son, Matthew Defayette and daughter-in-law, Roxy Defayette; cherished daughter, Lyndsey Defayette and son-in-law, Chad Hebert; devoted brother, David Defayette; caring sisters, Ellen Drewniak and Barbara Lucas; and brother-in-law, Leslie Lucas. Each of them will carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and kindness.

Larry will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
