Lucille Garvey-Little, 94, died at her home in Willsboro, N.Y. on September 6, 2023 with her family by her side.
Lucille was born at home in Reber on July 6, 1929, the daughter of Alton and Marie (Lewis) Wrisley.
Lucille attended the one room school house in Reber with her mother as her teacher. In 7th grade, she attended Willsboro School, graduating at age 15, salutatorian of her class. She graduated from Albany Business College with Highest Honors.
Lucille married Carl R Garvey on June 15, 1947 at Reber Methodist Church. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Georgia Pacific Pulp Mill, then partnered with Carl in the real estate business earning her real estate license. They also engaged in several successful business ventures, allowing them to retire early and enjoy extensive travels in their RV throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, ultimately wintering in Florida.
Lucille and Carl enjoyed 51 years together before his passing in 1999. She was fortunate to find love again, marrying Dr. Harry Little MD in 2004. They were blessed to have 10 years together before his passing in 2014.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Debra (Ross) Frisbie; daughter-in-law, Robin Garvey; son, Bryan (Mary) Garvey and summer daughter, Elka Hunt Kelley.
Grandchildren, Ian (Alicia) Frisbie, Julianne (Michael) Schloat, Kristin (Rick) Montgomery, April Ann (Joshua) Griffis, Jackson Garvey, Lindsay Gaines, and Joshua (Erin) Garvey.
Great grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Macrae, Kaylee, Logan, Ava, Sydney, Raelynn, Bristal, Carson, Laurel, and Callan.
Sister, Phyllis (William) Gibbons and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents, Alton and Marie Wrisley; brother, Roger; husband, Carl; grandson, Sargent Justin Wrisley Garvey, KIA in Iraq; husband, Dr. Harry Little MD; son, Gregg Garvey and sister, Edrie Dickerson.
Lucille loved hosting family and social events in her home and delighted in the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her “Mimi”, as did their friends.
Lucille was very active in the United Methodist Church, a founding member of the Willsboro Alumni Association and a member of the DAR.
She enjoyed downhill skiing, jogging, line dancing, oil painting and genealogical research.
Anyone Lucille met as a stranger left has her friend.
Services will be held at a later date.
