Lucille LaFountain Obituary

Lucille LaFountain, 85 of Altona passed awayTuesday, June 29, 2021 at the Elizabethtown Hospital. She had been a resident of the Keene Valley Neighborhood House for the past year and a longtime resident of Altona, NY.

She was born August 17, 1935 in Mooers, NY the daughter of Orlando and Mary Rose (Laniel) Bulriss.

Lucille enjoyed being in her garden whether it was planting flowers or tomatoes. She was a member of the Altona Fire Department Auxiliary for many years, a member of the Altona Jackpine Rocketts Red Hat group and a member of Holy Angel’s Church in Altona. She worked at the Slipper Factory and Clinton County Nursing Home for a number of years.

She is predeceased by her parents, Orlando and Mary Rose Bulriss; her husband, Owen LaFountain; a brother,Girard Bulriss and two sisters, Theresa Peryea and Clara Porter.

She is survived by two sons, James LaFountain and his wife Cheryl of Cadyville, NY and Peter LaFountain and his wife Carolyn of Altona, NY; one daughter, Beverly Canning and her husband Gary of Ocala, FL; her grandchildren, Tonya LaFountain, Jacquelyn Canning, Marsha LaFountain and her fiance, Matthew Kolodziejczyk, Kristen (Bryan) Trombley, Katie (Brandon) Martin and Kyle (Cherish) Canning; her great grandchildren, Mykah, Kaleb, Lyla and Quinn Trombley, Giselle and Stella Canning and especially Liam Kolodziejczyk who brought her the most joy and biggest smiles. She is also survived by her sisters, Isabelle Ashline, Yvonne (Marvin) Bourdeau, Loretta Lashway, Lorraine (Gerald) Castine and her brothers, Leonard (Carol) Bulriss and Reil Bulriss.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 at Holy Angel’s Church in Altona. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Following the funeral Mass, entombment will be in the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum.
