Lucille Ann Stratton (Brothers), 88, of Mooers passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, NY with her loving family by her side.
She was born in West Chazy, NY on January 3, 1932 to the late Maynard and Dorothy (Woodward) Brothers. Lucille married Herbert Stratton on January 14, 1951 and they had six children. They lived in Mooers for 14 years then moved to Chazy landing. The family then moved back to Mooers to run the Stratton family farm.
Lucille was a special lady who had a contagious smile. She was the best grandmother to her grandchildren. They all remember her playing games with them, drawing, singing and telling stories before bedtime. Her passion was country music. Her favorite songs were “Lucille” by Kenny Rogers and “You are my sunshine”, which she sang to her grandchildren.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Herbert; brothers, Marshall, Russell, Donald and Orville (Smokey); sisters, Dorothy and Lillian; grandsons, Alan “Peanut”, Jeremy and Michael.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Talbot (John),Sandy LaPier (Alan), Diane Garrand (Bob), Carol Trombly (Kevin), Grace Gregg (Jerry), Richard Stratton (Melissa); grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Katey, Alan, Bobby, Heather, Kari, Katrina, Debie, Megan, Mindy, Connor and Savanah; 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Lashway (Maynard), Larry Brothers, Pauline Miller (fiancé, Ronald Duffy); many nieces and nephews as well as a special brother in law, Charles Stratton (Louise).
The family of Lucille wishes to thank the people at Meadowbrook Healthcare, especially the staff at Pine Ridge, for all they did for Lucille while she was there for five years with dementia.
Lucille will be buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Mooers beside her husband. Services will be private due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
