Margaret “Peggy” Ellen Rivers, 81 of Rouses Point passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the UVM Health Network at CVPH. She was born September 20, 1941 in Sciota, the daughter of Jay LaForest Sr. and Elsie (Mayo) LaForest. Married George Rivers, September 22, 1962 at St. Louis of France Church in Sciota. She was a secretary at Wyeth Ayerst for 35 years; she was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point, a member of St. Patrick’s Parish Council and a member of the Rouses Point Fire Department Auxiliary but her favorite occupation was wife, mother and grandmother. Margaret is predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Roland LaForest, Gordon LaForest and Jay LaForest Jr.; four sisters, Joan Girard, Gloria Wike, Barbara LaForest and Sandra Morrow. Left to cherish memories of Margaret are her husband George Rivers of Rouses Point; one son, Christopher and his wife Teresa of Hudson, NY; one daughter, Pamela Prewitt and her husband Gregg of Davidsonville, MD; one brother, Larry LaForest of Dayton, OH; one sister, Betty Miner of West Chazy; two grandchildren, Hunter Rivers and Alexander Prewitt as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be visitation from 2:00-3:00 at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point Tuesday, May 16th. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 3:00. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montgomery Hose Hook and Ladder Co. or St. Patrick’s Church. Arrangements are in the care of the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.
