Mona LaBombard Obituary

Mona M. LaBombard 76, of Ellenburg Center passed away Tuesday, November 22, at the UVM Health Network  in Plattsburgh, NY with her loving family by her side.

She was born July 26th, 1946 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY. The daughter of Maurice and Wilma (Rounds) Cassavaw. 

She was a mother, grandmother, wife, friend, a confidant, and a soldier of our Lord.

In her younger years, Mona worked at the Chateaugay Cheese Plant. She was a homemaker,  respite worker for Clinton County Office of the Aging, and an elder care provider. She taught at Saint Edmund’s Church for 50 years and during this time became the Director of Religious Education.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Altar and Rosary Society, Court Little Rose and Home Bureau. Mona was a Eucharistic Minister, an Ordained Lay Minister and a devoted member of Saint Edmund’s Parish.

Mona was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting, quilting, painting, bird watching, playing cards and spending time with her family. She loved her backyard filled with family, spending time with her grandchildren in the pool and screen house.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Eugene LaBombard, her parents Maurice and Wilma Cassavaw, her Mother and Father-in-law Clarence and Victoria LaBombard, three brother-in-laws, Robert LaBombard and his wife Rosemary, Douglas Cookingham, Donald Cassidy and her special nephew Kelly LaPoint who was like a brother to her. 

Left to cherish memories of Mona are her children, Brian LaBombard and his wife Barbara of

Ellenburg, Jody LaBombard and his wife Melody of Altona, Matthew LaBombard and his companion Jessica Towsley of Ellenburg Center, Cindy Jock and her husband Jeff of Ellenburg Center, Nathan LaBombard and his wife Marie of Ellenburg Center and Emily LaBombard and her wife Brianne of Cadyville. Her grandchildren, Joseph LaBombard and his wife Jennifer, Lyndon LaBombard and his wife Ashley, Cherish Canning and her husband Kyle, Heather LaBombard and her companion Patrick LaBarge, Scarlet Stevens and her husband Rene, Robert LaBombard and his companion Tiffany, Damian LaBombard and his companion Jenni, Victoria, Dawson, and Madison LaBombard, Julie Micanko, Hannah and Jenny Jock, Jordan, Xavier, Skyler and Nevaeh LaBombard. Her fur grandbaby, Sophie and her great grandchildren, Charlotte, Giselle, Stella, Atlas, Zephyr, Garrett, John, Kayden, Maribelle, Laxus, Ashten and Aizen. Mona is also survived by her three sisters, Sally Cookingham of Plattsburgh, her twin sister Llona Wilhelm and her husband Fred of Parishville, and Lillian Cassidy of Plattsburgh, her brother-in-law, James LaBombard and his wife Mary of Ellenburg. Mona is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Calling hours will be Monday, November 28th from 4-7 pm at the Ross Funeral Home in

Mooers. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 29, at 11am at Saint Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Ellenburg Center Fire Department or Saint Edmund’s Church.
