Norma Rabideau Obituary

Norma Rabideau, 87, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the Clinton County Nursing Home. Born on March 11, 1938, to David and Alma Sample, Norma grew up on the family farm, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and simplicity—principles that would guide her throughout her life.

Norma was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald Rabideau. Together they built a warm and welcoming home in the Mooers community, where Norma devoted herself to raising their family and serving others. She was a loving mother to her two sons, John Rabideau (Maryann Duve) and Joel Rabideau (Shannon Carey), who will forever cherish her unwavering support, quiet strength, and deep affection.

A dedicated housewife and mother, Norma was known for her exceptional cooking—always from scratch and always from the heart. She enjoyed crafting as a member of the Mooers Home Bureau, sharing handmade items that carried her creative touch and she gave generously of her time. Norma volunteered with the Mooers Fire Department Auxiliary, the Mooers food shelf and taught religious education at St. Joseph’s Church, where she was a devoted member of the Catholic community.

Norma spent several years working as a secretary for Ayerst Laboratories and then was a substitute secretary at Northeastern Clinton Central School for many years forming friendships and memories she treasured.

Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and relatives, especially holiday gatherings and camping at Genesee Park. Norma leaves behind four beloved grandchildren—Andrew (Stephanie), Alex (Hailey), Emma, and Ethan—and four cherished great-grandchildren: Owen, Noah, Carson and Eden, who brought her endless delight. She is survived by her brother Alton Sample and sisters-in-law Sandy Sample, Scarlett Sample and Sally Sample.  She is predeceased by her brothers David Sample Jr., Bruce Sample, George Sample, Roger Sample and sisters-in-law Denise Sample and Sharron Sample.

Norma lived a simple, meaningful life in the Mooers area, grounded in faith, family, and community. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her generosity, her devotion to the Church, and the warmth she brought to every gathering.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband Donald and rests now in God’s eternal peace.
