Norman Bonneau Obituary

Norman Bonneau, 81, of Champlain, New York, passed away on December 16, 2025.

Norm was born on July 9, 1944, in Troy, Vermont to Jean Paul and Germaine Bonneau. After growing up on the family farm, Norm went to Saint Michaels College. From there he was recruited by the Sisters of St. Mary’s Academy in Champlain to join the staff as a teacher and coach. He went on to teach nearly four decades at Northeastern Clinton Central School and coached hundreds of athletes in sports ranging from basketball to bowling.

Norm loved sports and being active outdoors. He was an avid golfer, and on any given summer day you would likely see him with a huge smile mowing lawns on his tractor. More than anything, he loved his family, friends, and community, and would be the first person to step up to help anyone in need. His spirit of kindness and generosity will always be remembered.

Norm is survived by his children, Kara and Adam (Melina Montes); his partner, Mary Williams, and her daughter, Brittany Williams Hunt (Jonathan); Amanda Carter (Adam, Sylvia, Avalee); sisters, Suzanne Dunn (Bob), Helen Before, and Irene Dagesse (Dan); brothers, Rene (Mary Lou) and Alan (Aaron Benson); brother-in-law and best friend, Michael Abair (Rena); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pauline Abair, and David Clark.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andre Bessette Church (Sacred Heart) in Troy, Vermont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, with burial following at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Lowell, Vermont. Friends and family are welcome to attend. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 31 at the North Country Golf Club starting at noon.
