Owen M. Poirier, 15, of Chazy passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Owen was born November 6, 2007 in Plattsburgh. Owen is the loving and wonderful son of Chad and Tammy (Cronkrite) Poirier. Owen's brother Jake is his best friend in the world and their bond as brothers will never be broken.
Owen was an ambitious student at Chazy Central Rural School and the CV-Tech Automotive Program. Owen was a very proud member of the Varsity Chazy Eagles Soccer team and Plattsburgh Football Club Spartans traveling soccer team. Owen loved to play soccer and it was a passion for Owen from a young age. Owen also participated on the Chazy Eagles basketball and baseball teams. Spending time with his teammates and coaches was something he enjoyed so much. Owen loved to recount the tales from the entertaining bus rides to sporting events, providing many laughs and memories. Owen loved to show his patriotism and was recently voted in to be a member of the student council at school.
Owen was charming, kind beyond measure, funny, witty and he easily made friends, young or old, wherever he went. He was gifted with the ability to fix almost anything; he enjoyed working on engines, cars, equipment and being a crew member on his fathers pulling truck team. Owen loved riding his dirt bike, snowmobiling, and was an avid hunter but nothing could compare to his love for old cars. Like his dad, Owen was a Chevy fan, Corvettes being a particular favorite. Owen enjoyed music, he knew all the words to many Old Country and 80's Pop Rock songs and was always the first one to say 'turn it up!'. Owen was an incredibly hard worker and loved working with his Dad. It was common to see Owen running a chainsaw in the woods or operating heavy equipment on various job sites and projects. Owen was proud of the family business and enjoyed working alongside the team. Owen lived a life full of adventure: family camping trips in the RV, UTV rides in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia, as well as several trips to Florida to deep sea fish and hog hunt. Owen leaves his family with wonderful memories to cherish him forever. Owen's incredible smile and big heart will be missed so much.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, George Cronkrite. Left to cherish memories of Owen are his parents, Chad and Tammy Poirier; his brother, Jake Poirier; great grandparents, Gerald and Lorraine Castine; his grandparents, Louise Cronkrite, Debbie and Tony Leerkes, Rene Poirier and Lynn Robert; Aunts and Uncles, Jessica MacNerland and Bruce Mousseau, Milton Cronkrite, Brian Cronkrite and Missy Cronkrite, Kelly Cronkrite, and Tina and Paul Couch. He is further survived by his very close cousins, Brady MacNerland, Baylon Cronkrite, Lexi Cronkrite, Destiny Cronkrite and A. J. Couch.
