Obituary
Phillip S. Sunderland, formerly of Canaan Hill Road, Ellenburg Depot died peacefully in his home in The Villages, FL on December 27, 2022.
Phil was born in October 1942 in Ellenburg Depot, NY. He attended Ellenburg Central and earned an associates degree in agricultural science from SUNY Canton and a bachelor's degree in business from SUNY Plattsburgh. Phil was employed by Wyeth-Ayerst, a member of the NACS Board of Education, and active in Boy Scouts initiating and leading Troop 29. Phil and his family relocated to Pennsylvania in 1988, where he continued his service in Boy Scouting and worked for Wyeth-Ayerst until his retirement in 2000. After a brief return to “upstate” (Waterford) NY, Phillip retired to Florida in 2017.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents Florence and Everett Sunderland; his siblings Elizabeth, Walter, Miner, Doris, Nancy, Lorraine, Herbert, and Vincent; and his wife Helen Lagree Sunderland, (mother of Debbie, Jim and John).
Phil is survived by his wife, Joanne Smith Sunderland; his children, Deborah (Edward)Yarnell, James (Robyn), and John (Bethany), and seven grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 1-3pm on Saturday August 12 at Ross’ Funeral Home in Mooers.
