Richard L. Gokey

Richard L. Gokey, 64, of Champlain passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 in Burlington, VT.

Richard was born May 13, 1961 in Plattsburgh, the son of Leward and Eleanore (Gipe) Gokey.

Richard was known as “Pin” or “Pinhead” by friends and family alike. He worked at Trans Border in Champlain as a meat inspector, Sandy’s Country Kitchen, Deringer and Buffalo Jeans in the warehouse. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors, but he loved cooking.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Leward and Eleanore Gokey; and his in-laws, Leonard and Anita Snide.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Gokey; his three sons, Grant of Plattsburgh, Justin of Champlain and Robert of Rouses Point; a brother, Stephen and his companion, Brandie Martin of Plattsburgh; a sister, Roxanne “Roxy” Vincent of Plattsburgh; he cherished his two grandchildren, Isabella “Bella” Hebert and Malakai Gokey; as well as many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Emma.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1pm at the VFW in Champlain.
