Robert Nelson LaCount Obituary
Robert Nelson LaCount passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and an enduring legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion to those he loved.
On November 11, 1961, Robert married the love of his life, Veronica. Together they shared nearly 65 years of marriage, building a home centered on love, family, and unwavering commitment.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Veronica LaCount; his sons, Randy R. LaCount (Mary Jo), Neil N. LaCount (Tracy), and Lonny G. LaCount (Tina); his brother, Arthur LaCount; his grandchildren, Ryan LaCount, Adam LaCount, Jillian LaCount, Olivia LaCount, and Isabella LaCount; and his seven great-grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Jace, Kinsley, Aubrey, Addilyn, and Eliza.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Ida (Rivers) LaCount, his daughter, Connie Jean, and his brother, William LaCount.
Robert spent his life doing what he loved. He was a lifelong farmer, proudly working the family farm, and later dedicated many years to the New York State Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1995.
To know Robert was to know his warm smile, his firm handshake, and his genuine kindness.
He touched countless lives throughout his community with his willingness to lend a helping hand and his friendly conversation. His faith and his family were the foundation of his life.
One of Robert's greatest joys was cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.
Whether it was a ballgame or a horse show, he could almost always be found in the stands on weekends, proudly watching and encouraging them. He especially loved watching his granddaughter Bella ride, beaming with pride every step of the way.
Robert had what many called "the gift of gab." He loved telling stories—often the same ones more than once-but somehow they never grew old. His stories, laughter, and easy conversation brought smiles to everyone fortunate enough to spend time with him.
Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, caring brother, loyal friend, and a man whose kindness and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, hard work, and family will live on for generations.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00am.
