It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruby M. Garrand, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on July 11, 2026, at the age of 74. Ruby was born on March 9, 1952, in Mooers Forks, NY, and she spent her life in the beautiful community of Chazy, NY. 

Ruby was an ardent member of her church community. She devotedly attended St. Ann's Shrine in summer and spent the remainder of the year at Sacred Heart, St. Joseph's, and St. Mary's, richening her faith and spirit through her commitment to worship. As a lively and joyful soul, her biggest happiness stemmed from her role as a grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren—Emily, Cameron, Colby, Taylair, Ellie, and Lillian—often engaging in playful activities that fostered their love for the outdoors, as well as indulging in their adventures in coloring and crafts.

A dedicated employee, Ruby worked as a Setup Clerk in the scented body care manufacturing industry at Delagar in Rouses Point, NY. Her meticulous nature also overflowed into her home life, where she took great pleasure in cleaning and working lovingly in the family sugar house.

Ruby is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Leon Garrand; her three sons, Lee (Tina) Garrand, Thomas (Holly) Garrand, and Jason (Elizabeth) Garrand; as well as her cherished siblings: Paul (Nancy) LaValley, Bev (Jim) Lamberton, Marilyn (Dave Gravelin) LaCount, Norma (Larry) Begor and Tammy Barcomb. 

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Beatrice LaValley; her sisters, Margaret and Joan; and her brother, George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor on July 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Church. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Ruby’s life, reflecting on the love she shared and the joy she brought to all those fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann's Shrine. 

Ruby will be deeply missed, yet her legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
