Shirley M. Garlock

Shirley Mae Garlock, 92 of Chazy passed away at her home Sunday, March 21, 2021.  

She was born May 6, 1928 in Freysbush, New York.  She was the daughter of Chester A. Slingerland and Iva Mae Wiles of Fort Plain, New York.  She attended a nearby one room schoolhouse until 10th grade, then she attended Fort Plain Central School.  She married Leland E. Garlock June 20, 1946 in Fort Plain.  He preceded her in death July of 2002.  She worked at various jobs during her life.  She was a cook, elder care worker, factory worker and most of all a homemaker.  

She is predeceased by two daughters, Linda Thornhill and Karen Smith.

She is survived by 12 children.  Five sons, James and Kevin of Chazy, Bruce of Herkimer, NY, Roger of Ellenburg, Duane of Palatine Bridge, NY; seven daughters, Denise Forkey of Ellenburg, Nancy Smith of Sherburne, NY, Dawn Bisley of Zephyrhills, FL, Wendy Iacobucci of North Augusta, SC, Kalee Baltzel of Averill Park, NY, Serina Van Nostrand of Palantine Bridge, NY, Anita Lapan of Colchester, VT; She has 35 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.  

She was deeply loved by all of her family.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the spring in Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point.
