Shirley A. Rabideau

Shirley A. Rabideau, 84 of Mooers Forks, NY passed away March 3, 2020 at Meadowbrook Healthcare with her family by her side. 

She was born April 1, 1935 in Plattsburgh, NY, the daughter of Leo and Cecile (Bosley) LaFountain.  Shirley graduated from Mooers Central School in 1953, then she married the love of her life on August 20, 1955.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Church, she sang in the church choir and she was the choir director for several years.  Shirley was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann’s for 61 years.  She was a member of the Sweet Adelines for the Plattsburgh Chorus and the West Island Chorus in Montreal for many years.  She was a dairy farmer’s wife and was involved in Dairylea Coopertive, Inc. and New England Dairy and Food Council.  Shirley also served on the school board.

She loved singing, camping and traveling, but most of all she loved being with family and friends.  Family was everything to her. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Cecile LaFountain; her sister Doris and brother in law Tim Sheridan; also, many other sisters in law, brothers in law, cousins and a great-granddaughter, Sadie Van Weort.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gilbert Rabideau of Mooers Forks, five children, Greg and Starr Rabideau, Kevin and Carol Rabideau, Jeff and Star Rabideau, all of Plattsburgh; Scott and Mame Rabideau of Rouses Point; Leann Rabideau and Joe Chatelle of Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Carissa Coakley, Kylie Anderson, Katie Van Weort, Jesse Swisher, Josh Rabideau, Morgan Rabideau and Sierra Gowette; seven great-grandchildren, Rylan, Mya, Landen, Halle, Sophie, Ivy, Liam and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 9, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks.
