Suzanne M. Smith

Suzanne M. Smith, 72 of Mooers passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at her home.

She was born June 13, 1949 in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of Fred and Flora (Dauphinais) Gauthier.She graduated from Mooers Central School in 1966.  She also attended BOCES Beauty  School.  She worked at Hollywood Beauty Salon in Cohoes.  She was an EMT in Mooers from 1997-1999.  Suzanne worked as a bus driver at NCCS from 1999-2016; a hairdresser at Sue’s Country Style.  She was also a caregiver for Doris Hammarth for 11 years.

She was predeceased by her parents and Earl Barkman.

Suzanne is survived by her family, Thomas Smith, Angela and Winiford LaFountain of Mooers, Alexandria Smith and fiance Christopher Leanza of Saranac Lake, Riley Smith and fiancee Brooke Ziemba of Mooers, Patrick and Carolina LaFountain of Maine, Joshua LaFountain of Florida, Tara Phaneuf of Mooers, Theresa Barkman, Jackie and Frank Rodriquez, Henry and Lisa Gauthier, Diane and George Perry, Alicia Heannings and Alan Brisson, Lorelai, Kroy and Asher.  She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge Doris Hammarth; Suzanne was her caretaker for 11 years and Brenda Cooke, she and Suzanne were best friends for over 50 years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday November 1, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fitzpatrick’s Cancer Center in care of the CVPH Foundation.

Arrangements are in the care of the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.
